CKD NIKKI DENSO is a servo drive manufacturer that deals with the whole process from product development to manufacturing and sale. By taking advantage of being members of such a manufacturer, engineers of each section collaborate closely beyond organizational boundaries. Bringing together their expertise, they work on a company-wide basis to solve customers’ problems quickly. To do so, a basic technology development team earnestly makes advanced development efforts at the same time product development proceeds, constantly taking on new technological challenges.
The technology department has several dedicated teams, each assigned to a specific product category. They engage in a range of activities, from basic technology development to product design, while building on diverse technologies and ideas.

Using the analogy of the automobile industry, our technology department can be compared to a technical team that develops racing engines. Our larger competitors are like engine makers that produce engines for everyday passenger cars that can be driven on any public roads in order to obtain an average level of customer satisfaction. We are more like a technical team that creates racing engines devoted to bringing out the best engine performance so that the car runs faster and more safely under predetermined regulations. Our development efforts are directed to providing products that meet customer needs within the budgetary and time limits, with the primary focus on solving customers’ problems.

NIKKI DENSO, which engaged in the development and production of servo drivers in its early days, is a manufacturer that excels in drive control systems. Customers highly appreciate the excellent quality of our electric designs and control systems from wiring to proprietary encoders. Our flagship product – direct drive motor – is a lightweight mechatronics-based motor that humans can operate as they wish. The engineer spirit is devoted to our products like this motor, and we deliver them to customers with confidence.

A vast lineup of products meet customer needs

Over 20 years have passed since we started manufacturing as a pioneer of direct drive motors. Our lineup of product series consists of diverse models, each designed specifically for a particular purpose, such as high response, high rigidity, high-speed rotation, or thinness, based on the basic model featuring the performance and functionality required for a direct drive motor. As for servo drivers, the control technology that we have refined over the years brings out the maximum servo performance. While these drivers support various network types and capacities, a user-friendly system support tool keeps them easy to use and excellent in performance.

Advanced drive systems offering environmental resistance and ultra-high accuracy lead us into the future

Today, half of our direct drive motors are purchased by customers in the semiconductor industry, which is expected to keep growing. Amid concerns that the miniaturization of semiconductor devices is nearing its limits, companies will likely be forced to engage in an all-out competition by combining different technologies such as chiplets and 3D packaging. This will inevitably lead to the need for drive mechanisms to become even more accurate, making it necessary to integrate all components of a drive system at high levels. Also, because a direct drive motor drives the load directly, there will be a growing call for the drive to be able to operate under severe environmental conditions such as vacuum and high temperatures. We will meet these challenges by devising new ideas. We internally develop and manufacture all the devices mentioned above, which makes us confident that our company is the one that can meet the expectations of customers. Also, as we keep working on our business, we consider that our mission as a manufacturer is to develop energy-saving, space-saving, and highly efficient motors that not only take world affairs into account but are also capable of addressing the global environment and other social issues.
